NBC News + Ezy Ryders

July 26, 2022

Thrilled to share this piece from NBC News on the Ezy Ryders book!

I really like this part:

“The book flows like an oral history and has the intimate feel of an old group of friends sharing stories at the end of a party, long after most guests have left.”

Ezy Ryders Book Announcement

December 28, 2021

I'm thrilled to announce that The Artist Edition will be publishing my first monograph, Ezy Ryders, in Spring 2022.

Ezy Ryders follows the trials and triumphs of New York City's black motorcycle clubs, as they denounce respectability, defy stereotypes, and find freedom within their community and on their bikes. The book spans five years of photographing, and includes personal interviews with ten riders.

Journalist and advocate Jimmie Briggs contributes a foreword, and rider in the scene Imir Leveque clarifies the culture’s terminology and traditions with his “Biker’s Glossary.”

From November 17-December 17, 2021, we raised funds for the book’s design and printing via a Kickstarter pre-order. The book will be designed by Martin Farran-Lee, and it will be printed in Denmark at Narayana Press. We completed the Kickstarter 110% funded! Now, we get to work to finish the book’s design, get it proofed & printed, and shipped to all the folks who already pre-ordered. I can’t wait!

Exotic Bodies In Motion in Glamour

October 5, 2016

After holding this project close like a protective parent for years, worried that a publication would sensationalize the story and the women who make it, I was happy when Glamour wanted to publish Exotic Bodies In Motion. Glamour consistently features stories about strong, intelligent women, and I know the women from the club fit right in. Read here

But the best part was hearing from a dancer I hadn't been in contact with since photographing the project. After the article came out, she emailed and thanked me for coming into their world with an open mind and heart. "You saw us as we saw ourselves, and that means more than you'll ever know."
